Consider this:   1.  President Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is no longer a "lawyer".   He surrendered his license back in 2008 in order to escape charges he lied on his bar application.   NOTE: Click on "lawyer" to see the actual documents.  2.  Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993.   3.  So, we have the first black President and First Lady — who don't actually have licenses to practice law. May 15, 2009 by Johnny Alamo I saw a note slide across the #TCOT feed on Twitter last night that mentioned Michelle Obama had no law license.   This struck me as odd, since (a) she went to school to be a lawyer, and (b) she just recently held a position with the University of Chicago Hospitals as legal counsel — and that's a pretty hard job to qualify for without a law license. But being a licensed professional myself, I knew that every state not only requires licensure, they make it possible to check online the status of any licensed professional.   So I did, and here's the results from the ARDC Website: She "voluntarily surrendered" her license in 1993.   Let me explain what that means.   A "Voluntary Surrender" is not something where you decide "Gee, a license is not really something I need anymore, is it?" and forget to renew your license.   No, a "Voluntary Surrender" is something you do when you've been accused of something, and you 'voluntarily surrender" you license five seconds before the state suspends you. Here's an illustration:  I'm a nurse.   At various times in my 28 years of nursing I've done other things when I got burned out; most notably a few years as a limousine driver; even an Amway salesman at one point.    I always, always renewed my nursing license — simply becuase it's easier to send the state $49.00 a month than to pay the $200, take a test, wait six weeks, etc., etc. . .   I've worked (recently) in a Nursing Home where there was an 88 year old lawyer and a 95 year old physician.   Both of them still had current licensures as well.   They would never DREAM of letting their licenses lapse.    I happen to know there is currently in the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City Indiana an inmate who is a licensed physician, convicted of murder when he chased the two burglars who entered his home and terrorized his family into the street and killed them.   (And I can't say I blame him for that, either.)    This physican still has an active medical license and still sees patients, writes prescriptions, etc all from inside the prison.   And he renews his medical license every two years, too.   I tried looking up why she would "Voluntarily surrender" her licese, but Illinois does not have it's 1993 records online. But when I searched for "Obama", I found this: "Voluntarily retired" — what does that mean?    Bill Clinton hung onto his law license until he was convicted of making a false statement in the Lewinsky case and had to "Voluntarily Surrender" his license too. This is the former editor of the Harvard Law Review who doesn't seem to give a crap about his law license. Something else odd; while the Search feature brings up the names, any searches for the Disciplinary actions ends quickly.  As in, Too Quickly. Less than a half-second quickly on a Search Engine that can take five seconds to Search for anything.  As in, "there's a block on that information" kind of thing. So we have the first Lawyer President and First Lady —who don't actually have licenses to practice law.   There's more to this story, I'm sure.    I'll let you know when I find it.

Filtering History

I am republishing and commenting upon Dr. Sowell's column because I have a deep respect for all that he says and herein he treats with a subject touching the lives of virtually every person on the planet and, very surely, in our USA, the continued selective, histrionic treatment of Slavery in the Western World.

Many years ago, I was surprised to receive a letter from an old friend, saying that she had been told that I refused to see campus visitors from Africa.

At the time, I was so bogged down with work that I had agreed to see only one visitor to the Stanford campus-- and it so happens that he was from Africa. He just happened to come along when I had a little breathing room from the work I was doing in my office.

I pointed out to my friend that whoever said what she heard might just as well have said that I refused to go sky-diving with blacks-- which was true, because I refused to go sky-diving with anybody, whether black, white, Asian or whatever.

The kind of thinking that produced a passing misconception about me has, unfortunately, produced much bigger, much longer lasting, much more systematic and more poisonous distortions about the United States of America.

I wrote a 3000 word treatise on modern slavery in our world today which was severally times published including the www.free.fr website. In it I, like Dr. Sowell, show the conclusion that where ever unrestrained power of one set of humans continues over another, despotism and some form of slavery continues. We fought a war over white slavery in N. Africa and won it then fought a civil war over black slavery in America and won that. Great Britain, whatever her many faults, awakened to and won the worldwide fight against slavery in all that she touched. Still, slavery continues to be practiced virtually un-noticed by western journalists because it is so much easier and rewarding for them to tear down Christian US values than expose Islamic Fascism and Socialist predations so widespread in the world now. Race baiting, racial politics, and outright lies and deceit continue as a way of Political Life in the USA. Fact: No where else in the world are black people better treated nor is there anywhere else they have greater opportunities than right here in the USA. Almost invariably, when news reports of racism arise, they come from the same sources, time after time, and are all too often fabricated then dishonestly reported by our so-called mainstream media. Such foolishness is incredibly damaging. We have raised generations of American Blacks to believe they are somehow entitled to free everything and that they have no moral duty to even attempt to improve themselves. The statistic that more than 72% of all black children born in the USA are bastards, more than twice the numbers of any other group, should be illustrative. Government subsidies always increase what they subsidize.

Slavery is a classic example. The history of slavery across the centuries and in many countries around the world is a painful history to read -- not only in terms of how slaves have been treated, but because of what that says about the whole human species -- because slaves and enslavers alike have been of every race, religion and nationality.

An important fact is that ONLY Christianity and the Christian West has ended and denounced slavery as a way of life and a form of commerce. Islam, the Socialist and Communist countries, and those who threw away their Christianity in the name of Socialism all still traffic in humanity and practice one form or another of slavery.

If the history of slavery ought to teach us anything, it is that human beings cannot be trusted with unbridled power over other human beings-- no matter what color or creed any of them are. The history of ancient despotism and modern totalitarianism practically shouts that same message from the blood-stained pages of history.  Communism and modern Socialism are today's totalitarian societies.

But that is not the message that is being taught in our schools and colleges, or dramatized on television and in the movies. The message that is pounded home again and again is that white people enslaved black people.

It is true, just as it is true that I don't go sky-diving with blacks. But it is also false in its implications for the same reason. Just as Europeans enslaved Africans, North Africans enslaved Europeans-- more Europeans than there were Africans enslaved in the United States and in the 13 colonies from which it was formed. It is why the Marines invaded the "Shores of Tripoli!"

The treatment of white galley slaves was even worse than the treatment of black slaves picking cotton. But there are no movies or television dramas about it comparable to "Roots," and our schools and colleges don't pound it into the heads of students.

The inhumanity of human beings toward other human beings is not a new story, much less a local story. There is no need to hide it, because there are lessons we can learn from it. But there is also no need to distort it, so that sins of the whole human species around the world are presented as special defects of "our society" or the sins of a particular race.

If American society and Western civilization are different from other societies and civilization, it is that they eventually turned against slavery, and stamped it out, at a time when non-Western societies around the world were still maintaining slavery and resisting Western pressures to end slavery, including in some cases armed resistance.

Only the fact that the West had more firepower than others put an end to slavery in many non-Western societies during the age of Western imperialism. Yet today there are Americans who have gone to Africa to apologize for slavery-- on a continent where slavery has still not been completely ended, to this very moment.

It is not just the history of slavery that gets distorted beyond recognition by the selective filtering of facts. Those who go back to mine history, in order to find everything they can to undermine American society or Western civilization, have very little interest in the Bataan death march, the atrocities of the Ottoman Empire or similar atrocities in other times and places. How many Poles did the Soviets kill after WWII? How many times have the so-called Palestinian Arabs attacked Israel murdering thousands of innocents?

Those who mine history for sins are not searching for truth but for opportunities to denigrate their own society, or for grievances that can be cashed in today, at the expense of people who were not even born when the sins of the past were committed.  Yep, race baiters like too many of our black congressmen continue.

An ancient adage says: "Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." But apparently that is not sufficient for many among our educators, the intelligentsia or the media. They are busy poisoning the present by the way they present the past. There are ways presenting to end this silliness; don't vote for any more socialist race-baiting Democrats is one. Another is to challenge educators who focus only on specific areas of history and refuse to teach the total historical picture. Where there is Christ, there is liberty. Where Christ is not, there is NO liberty.

I know politics is nasty and that there are plenty of nasty, mean-tempered people within and addicted to all things political so why wouldn't there be definitive proof BO is american born?

I am also very sure there are plenty of people who would dearly like to expose BO and rid us of this detritus. However, does the DNC have such a firm control of all things Federal that they can prevent an honest investigation, are our many reporters so irresolute they simply ignore this story? And yet, further questions continue to arise, not in th eUSA, but in Canada, Australia, GB, Ireland, Poland, Russia, Germany, Japan, and other countries. Pictures, however accurate and/or retouched continue to show up from Kenya, Indonesia, and Europe. The single thread appears that, accurately I might add, the so-called BC BO released wasn't a complete document. 2 million in fees fighting lawsuits that could have been ended with a single piece of paper and now hundreds of lawsuits all over the country. Every sate in the US has at least one pending lawsuit. At least two SCOTUS Justices including Thomas have expressed doubts and have said they'd allow the issue if they could pick up just one more justice. Of course, that is unlikely considering the justices BO is going to nominate and the DNC still has control of the Senate so they'll ratify anyone.

Clearly, I am no fan of the DNC and have come to believe that party must be destroyed, completely discredited, before the US can begin to recover it lost liberties. The existing GOP has a most difficult job cut-out for it during the rest of this year and I am very doubtful most of the current sitting GOP members are up to the task. We never actually know whether or not BO is legal or not but I am very sure he will be doing all he can to ensure amnesty for as many illegal immigrants as possible because they may be the only way he'll be able to swing the next Presidential his way. His slip in the current polls, though it occasionally rallies, is steadily downward. May we all pray for our countries redemption and return to Christian values. Where there is Christ, there is liberty. Where there is no Christ, there is no liberty.

For you politicians and reporters (once called journalists) receiving this, I'd really like to know the veracity of these oft repeated claims. Can an illegal come here and get thousands of free dollars whenever they manage a birth within our borders, even if they are themselves here illegally. Is our assistance programs so benevolent and ill managed that non citizens (legally defined as having been born here or to parents who are citizens, within US borders or protectorates) are actually given tax-payer monies, SS and different types of assistance ??  Our nation is broke, SS no longer takes in as much as it pays out and there has never been a trust fund as all SS monies have simply been absorbed into the general treasury and used, this much the whole world knows is true. So is the question above true? Are we simply giving away our monies to illegals in a legal manner? What is the answer?

 

After thirty days, having noted the names and recipients of this missive, I will simply begin publishing the names, phone numbers, and addresses of all pols and journalists have fail to respond whether positive or not. Those making an honest effort at answering will be ONLY shown in a positive light according to their own answers. Everyone else gets widespread attention. Perhaps our popular media will ignore the question but, thanks to the Internet, there will be no lack of attention for the general public.

 

It is past time to stop giving US dollars to no US citizens simply because they managed to cross our borders illegally.

:       THIS IS TRULY AN OUTRAGE....   My name is d'Lynn.  I'm a disabled Vietnam vet.  I don't look too bad for a beat-up old fart, do I?  And that's my ride.  She's looking pretty good looking also, especially when you consider that she'll turn twenty this summer.  That's right, it's a 1990 with a 1990 sidecar.  I can't ride a solo bike, ergo the sidecar rig.  It's my sole means of transportation - rain or shine, snow or wind, and this summer also marks a milestone in both of our lives, as I will finally be able to pay her off.  Twenty years old?  What?  Why did it take so long?  You weren't paying attention, were you?  It's right at the beginning of this paragraph.  I am a disabled vet, which means I receive a veterans administration disability pension, which also means "I'm broke!"  Just one step ahead of being homeless every month, and that's not an idle statement or an"Oh, whoa is me" dire complaint.  There's a point to this, so hang in there a minute or two and read on. There's a 25-year-old illegal immigrant woman living in Florida , with eight kids.  Yes, eight "anchor babies" and she receives just shy of $1,500 per month per kid, plus medical, plus food stamps.  Oh, wait.  I've been informed that I shouldn't call them Food Stamps anymore.  That's not PC.  It's all called "Social Assistance" now.  You do the math on that yourself.  I'd say that she was schooled early in how to make it in the system.  Twenty-five years old, eight kids . . . . . yep, she started early.   You can whip out the calculator if you want, but this women who never has paid a dime in taxes of any kind, (and still doesn't – she's 'illegal,' remember?) is here in this country illegally.  She hasn't paid one cent in medical for all the "anchor babies," makes more in one month, legally, than I receive in over a year and a half in disability payments and I can't even get food stamps!  Oops, I mean "Social Assistance." Technically I am eligible for "Social Assistance."  I was told it would be a walk through – a gimme – being disabled.  No problem, and in the very next breath I was also informed that under the law the amount I received in "Social Assistance" would be deducted from my disability pension.    Let's say I take a great photograph.  It was just luck, a one of a kind accidental, in the right place at the right time shot.  My local newspaper offers me fifty bucks to use the photo in a featured story.  (I live in a small town and fifty bucks is all they could afford.)  I have to report that fifty dollars to the VA as earned income,  which will immediately be deducted from my next month's disability check.  If I don't report it I'm in violation of federal law and technically they can stop my disability pension and prosecute me under a federal felony.  Pretty cool, eh?  For fifty bucks.   I see no point in dealing with two federal bureaucracies, so I don't bother.  What's the point?   She's here illegally and with just one kid would make over twice what I receive per month.  She has eight and she's not a stand-out case.  She's not alone.  That's the way the system works.  Millions of illegal immigrants know this, know how the system works and know how to use it.  (Haven't you seen the pamphlet?  It's handed out all along our borders, "The Illegal Immigrants' Guide to Keeping America Just The Way It Is.") and that's just the way it works.   Did you know that the federal government provides a "refugee" in this country with a monthly "stipend" of $1,890, plus $580 a month in "Social Assistance?" That's $2,470 a month, tax-free.  That's two and a half times what I'm allowed to receive as a disabled vet.  And just what did they do to earn this?  All you have to do is show up on our collective doorstep, raise your right hand and swear that you're a refugee and, bingo, receive $30,000 a year, tax-free.  That's more than someone making $15 an hour, and they have to pay taxes to boot! Now, in defense of the Veterans Administration, they are doing what they can with what they've got.  This is precious little compared to what they should have to get the job done.  At least this country has a VA.  It's the Senate that keeps passing laws, rules and guidelines, cutting their budget, denying requests for more staff and computer systems to handle the massive work flow.  Their hands are tied by the very government that's supposed to give them what they need to get the job done, by the government you voted into office.  Don't scream at the VA.  I have.  It's misguided anger.  The point to this "story?"  Just why are you paying such high taxes to support this incredibly screwed-up government?  Why?  And I'm not proposing you stop paying your taxes.  That's wrong.  There are good programs and reasons to pay your taxes and support our government.  What am I proposing?  It's quite simple.  Vote.   The government, our government, is broken and we as the voters serve as the maintenance crew.  We fix it . . . . . by voting.   If your state Senator has been in office more than two terms, vote 'em out at the next election.  If your state representative has been in office more than two terms, vote 'em out of office.  We put term limits on just about every publicly-elected official in the country except the House and Senate.  Why?  Believe me, they know this and love it!  Ahhh - the power! I don't care how much you believe your Senator or Representative is doing a good job.  They're not!  Look at the government you have, that we have.  How can you state they are doing what you want as the voter that put them there?  How? Vote them out of office.  Do it.    Change the course of this country's history by what you are granted and guaranteed under the law.  Vote!  And if you have the guts, the anger, the outrage, start a petition in your state for a state-wide initiative to be placed on your next state ballot.  Limiting the terms of office for your state senators and state representatives to your  federal government to two terms.   The federal government will never pass such a law, but you can.  You can get it done.  You can force it.  You can make it a law. This is the first step in "getting it right."  Just vote.  It's simple.  It's easy, dammit!   This first step will send a very clear message. It'll work.  It'll put "us" back in control of "them."  As it should be.  As it was intended in the first place. Are you an American?  Born and raised?  Then vote! Facing Down the UN
Daniel New, 64
Daniel New has one claim to fame. He's the father of Michael New, the Army medic who refused to don a United Nations uniform when his infantry unit was assigned to a peacekeeping mission in a former Yugoslavian republic in 1995. To this day, Daniel New, who lives near Waco, hawks calendars, T-shirts, books and videos about the saga of his son, hero of the Patriot movement.
The younger New, who was court-martialed and discharged for bad conduct at the age of 23, long ago expressed a desire to move on with his life. His father and other supporters, however, put up a decade-long, unsuccessful court fight — bankrolled by a steady stream of donations — to win back his honor.
New argued that the Constitution prohibits soldiers from wearing foreign badges and answering to non-U.S. officers. But his appeals have twice been rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court, most recently in 2007.
That hasn't slowed down his stage dad. "Any time an American soldier is forced against  his will to serve a foreign power, then we are not a free country," Daniel New told a reporter after the latest rejection.
Daniel New was the one who handled the hundreds of phone calls, the talk show circuit and other media buzz after his son defied orders. He ran a quixotic race for Congress a few years later. Since then, he's been a staple of the right-wing speaking circuit, appearing at the 2007 Constitution Party conference, among other venues.
 At different points, New also has headed the Texas division of the now-defunct, right-wing U.S. Taxpayers Party in Texas and co-authored a self-published book with far-right columnist Cliff Kincaid (see profile above) titled Michael New: Mercenary or American Soldier? At press time, used copies were selling on Amazon.com for as little as a penny, while a new copy could be had for 65 cents.

Stevens: 'I Never Left Sanity. Sanity Left Me'

Two observations about retiring Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens are about to become established fact by sheer repetition. The first -- that Stevens is the last Protestant on the court -- is not true in any meaningful sense. The second -- that Stevens didn't move left, the court moved right -- is madness.

While it's true that there are no other Protestants on the court -- now composed of six Catholics and two Jews, making the Supreme Court only slightly less diverse than cable news hosts, 75 percent of whom are Catholic or Jewish, but also include a Scientologist, a Mormon and a gay -- it's difficult to believe Stevens is any kind of Protestant.

Stevens is more like a pre-road to Damascus Saul. Or maybe the late Justice William Brennan.

It has been said that when asked during his confirmation hearings if he would follow his Catholicism or the Constitution, Brennan should have answered: "Neither." (Only one senator voted against that cheap leprechaun. Guess who!... That's right: Joe McCarthy.)

Stevens' overall career-average may be less ridiculous than Brennan's, but in one respect, Stevens was a standout: He was the most fanatically anti-religious justice in modern times.

In the 1989 abortion case, Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, for example, Stevens argued that a state law that defined life as beginning at conception violated the First Amendment by -- yes, establishing a religion. The abortion law, he said, gave "a theological answer to the question of when life begins." (You've all heard of the First Church of When Life Begins, United, haven't you?)

Fortunately, Stevens didn't read far enough to see that the Bible also condemns murder generally, or he might have voted to strike down all laws against murder, too.

In the 2002 school voucher case, Zelman v. Simmons-Harris, Stevens argued that an Ohio program giving poor parents tuition aid to send their children to schools of their choosing also violated the establishment clause. Stevens admitted that the public school system in question was in "crisis" and also that the new schools were freely chosen by the parents.

Still, he said, because the program did not forbid parents from using the tuition payments at religious schools, the state was using "public funds to pay for the indoctrination of thousands of grammar school children in particular religious faiths." That money should have been used to indoctrinate children in subjects such as animal rights, Gaia theory, anti-Americanism and fisting etiquette!

Speaking as a Protestant, and not a "Protestant," we're happy to see Stevens leave the court.

Stevens' claim that he hasn't moved left, the court has moved right, if stated during a mental competence hearing, would have earned him a straitjacket and a handful of Thorazine.

But because Stevens' self-characterization comports with the legal left's position that the Supreme Court's failure to enact the entire platform of the Green Party constitutes "conservative judicial activism," it has been reverently repeated.

It's true that on a few issues, Stevens didn't change. He has long found any religious practice not crushed by the government to be an "establishment of religion." Stevens has also never been an enthusiast of tenuous claims to free speech rights, voting to uphold city restrictions on strip clubs in 1976 and voting to uphold a law that prohibited the burning of the American flag in 1989.

But on many other issues, such as race discrimination, Stevens swung so far to the left that his earlier opinions would be unrecognizable as having been written by the same man.

In 1978, Stevens was not only in the majority in University of California Regents v. Bakke, but he also wrote the opinion holding that the school's race-based admissions program violated Title VII and ordering the university to admit Bakke.

In another case of government race-based classifications, Fullilove v. Klutznick (1980), Stevens ridiculed the idea of race-based "remedies" being applied to every ethnic group under the sun.

Adopting Justice William Rehnquist's view that the specific history of blacks in America makes their claims unique, Stevens wrote: "Quite obviously, the history of discrimination against black citizens in America cannot justify a grant of privileges to Eskimos or Indians." (Remember when you could use terms like "Eskimo" and "Indian" without being accused of a hate crime?)

Unlike blacks, who were "dragged to this country in chains to be sold in slavery," Stevens said "the 'Spanish-speaking' subclass came voluntarily, frequently without invitation, and the Indians, the Eskimos and the Aleuts had an opportunity to exploit America's resources before the ancestors of most American citizens arrived."

Now fast-forward to 2003, when the court considered the race-based admissions policy at the University of Michigan. The school automatically awarded 20 points -- one-fifth of the total points needed for admission -- to every minority, including not only blacks, but also Hispanics, Indians, Eskimos and Aleuts.

This time, affirmative action for Aleuts was just peachy with Stevens, who came up with a ludicrous procedural objection to the lawsuit, basically concluding that no one ever has standing to sue for race discrimination in college admissions. I guess he figured it was time somebody did something about the University of Michigan's long, shameful history of discriminating against Aleuts.

That's quite a change from the Justice Stevens of Fullilove, who compared government affirmative action programs to Nazi policies, saying if the government "is to make a serious effort to define racial classes by criteria that can be administered objectively, it must study precedents such as the First Regulation to the Reich's Citizenship Law of Nov. 14, 1935," translated in Volume 4 of "Nazi Conspiracy and Aggression."

Whatever you think of Stevens' newfound admiration for government racial preferences, it's preposterous to say, as Stevens did, "I really don't think I've changed all that much."

If liberals will lie about obvious facts from the last few decades, such as Stevens' dramatic swing to the left, how can they be trusted to tell the truth about a 200-year-old Constitution?

This was sent as a comment to another post alleging BO's actual live birth certificate but has no serial no so more likely fabrication but still exactly what the birthers all across this nation and in Kenya claim to be the truth. Who knows the truth? BO isn't telling anyone and this does look just almost exactly the same as his original (no longer avbl) posted birth certificate that was once upon a time on his web site when running for office. The blogger has an amusing site, none-the-less.
