Next week Fidel Castro celebrates another anniversary, his 52nd as absolute dictator of Cuba. Perhaps he will invite the newest communist dictator thug, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who just succeeded in consolidating his power by getting the cowed country's politicos to vote him absolute power. After all, it was either vote him in or he'd vote them out, permanently under a pile of dirt. Or maybe he's invited Jung-Il of North Korea, the only other current communist thug to manage starving to death large numbers of his country's population without UN sanctions or a Nobel Peace Prize.
There is about something mesmerizing about communist dictators that brings out the stunning vacuity of Democrat idiots like Spielberg and Nicholson and all the rest of the Hollywoodians. Remember when filmmaker Saul Landau complimented Fidel for having "brought a greater equality in terms of wealth distribution (to Cuba) than ... any country in the world today"? Fidel accomplished this feat by simply stealing all of Cuba's wealth and leaving everyone poor except him and his cronies.
Would Landau and his fellows admire such confiscations if practiced here in America? Oh wait, it is. And if the Dems get their way the practice of wealth confiscation will expand until everyone unable to hide their income will be equally poor. Ah, the Democrat way, it's hardly distinguishable from the Communist way.
One of Fidel's more fabulous claims has to do with the health care system he imposed on his people. No one there suffers Michelle Obama's dread obesity, except for the occasional Communist Party functionary; it requires an excess food intake to grow fat. Cuba isn't even able to grow enough food to feed itself. (Come to think of it, NO Communist country is able to grow enough to feed itself.) In fact, everyone is in the pink. For Communists it isn't difficult at all to show a high national health average, just kill the old, the sick, your homosexuals and any other undesirables and voila! no illness left.
In fact, I recently heard of the marvels of the communist system and I did not even have to turn to Fidel's state-owned radio to hear it. It was broadcast on our own state-owned broadcast system, on PBS' "NewsHour." They somehow managed to elevate the Cuban system and denigrate our own despite the clear differences by stating everyone in Cuba received free government health care. It seems to me that a TV/Radio network that requires constant government subsidies and that must beg for donations almost nightly merely to exist ought to be a bit more discerning about truth but this is a Democrat run organization so its propaganda must support the current state position or fail.
Mary Anastasia O'Grady of The Wall Street Journal, who specializes in Latin America, points out that "the series was taped in Cuba with government 'cooperation' so there is no surprise that it went heavy on the party line." (Which party, the Dems or Cubas?) And O'Grady refutes the article with a memoir from Vicente Botin, a Spanish Television correspondent who spent four years in the Cuban hellhole.
Among other points, Botin claims Cuban homes have no regular running water or steady electricity, even in the capital. Botin says that in Havana, 75.5 percent of the water pipes are "unusable" and that the government "recognized that 60 percent of pumped water was lost before it made it to consumers." To alleviate the problem, O'Grady writes, "the city began providing water in each neighborhood only on certain days. Havana water is also notoriously contaminated. Foreigners drink only the bottled stuff, which Cubans can't afford." It is curious that a country that cannot even provide water to its people can boast of a superb health system. Funny, the PBS "NewsHour" didn't mention that.
Of course, the liberal Democrat, PBS' Suarez, states the public health care system provided by Fidel is superb. Cuba -- a country that cannot provide clean water to its citizenry, to say nothing of electricity -- is a land of vigorous good health. Homes are investigated, Suarez says, and "electrical plugs checked." Possibly that is because in Cuba, doctors double as secret police, or is it the other way round? At any rate, it is reassuring to know that in Cuba, house calls are made, even if they aren't to promote good health. But don't worry, Obamacare is coming here. Soon!

Coulter on Liberal Charity
Liberals never tire of discussing their own generosity, particularly when demanding that the government take your money by force to fund shiftless government employees overseeing counterproductive government programs.
They seem to have replaced "God" with "Government" in scriptural phrases such as "love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." (Matthew 22:37)
This week, we'll take a peek at the charitable giving of these champions of the poor.
In 2009, the Obamas gave 5.9 percent of their income to charity, about the same as they gave in 2006 and 2007. In the eight years before he became president, Obama gave an average of 3.5 percent of his income to charity, upping that to 6.5 percent in 2008.
The Obamas' charitable giving is equally divided between "hope" and "change."
George W. Bush gave away more than 10 percent of his income each year he was president, as he did before becoming president.
Thus, in 2005, Obama gave about the same dollar amount to charity as President George Bush did, on an income of $1.7 million -- more than twice as much as President Bush's $735,180. Again in 2006, Bush gave more to charity than Obama on an income one-third smaller than Obama's.
In the decade before Joe Biden became vice president, the Bidens gave a total -- all 10 years combined -- of $3,690 to charity, or 0.2 percent of their income. They gave in a decade what most Americans in their tax bracket give in an average year, or about one row of hair plugs.
Of course, even in Biden's stingiest years, he gave more to charity than Sen. John Kerry did in 1995, which was a big fat goose egg. Kerry did, however, spend half a million dollars on a 17th-century Dutch seascape painting that year, as Peter Schweizer reports in his 2008 book, "Makers and Takers."
To be fair, 1995 was an off-year for Kerry's charitable giving. The year before, he gave $2,039 to charity, and the year before that a staggering $175.
He also dropped a $5 bill in the Salvation Army pail and almost didn't ask for change.
In 1998, Al Gore gave $353 to charity -- about a day's take for a lemonade stand in his neighborhood. That was 10 percent of the national average for charitable giving by people in the $100,000-$200,000 income bracket. Gore was at the very top of that bracket, with an income of $197,729.
When Sen. Ted Kennedy released his tax returns to run for president in the '70s, they showed that Kennedy gave a bare 1 percent of his income to charity -- or, as Schweizer says, "about as much as Kennedy claimed as a write-off on his 50-foot sailing sloop Curragh." (Cash tips to bartenders and cocktail waitresses are not considered charitable donations.)
The Democratic base gives to charity as their betters do. At the same income, a single mother on welfare is seven times less likely to give to charity than a working poor family that attends religious services.
In 2006 and 2007, John McCain, who files separately from his rich wife, gave 27.3 percent and 28.6 percent of his income to charity.
In 2005, Vice President Cheney gave 77 percent of his income to charity. He also shot a lawyer in the face, which I think should count for something.
In a single year, Schweizer reports, Rush Limbaugh "gave $109,716 to 'various individuals in need of assistance mainly due to family illnesses,' $52,898 to 'children's case management organizations,' including 'various programs to benefit families in need,' $35,100 for 'Alzheimer's community care -- day care for families in need,' and $40,951 for air conditioning units and heaters delivered to troops in Iraq."
(Rush also once gave $50 to Maxine Waters after mistaking her for a homeless person.)
The only way to pry a liberal from his money is to hold tickertape parades for him, allowing him to boast about his charity in magazines and on TV.
Isn't that what Jesus instructed in the Sermon on the Mount?
"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do ... But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:2-4)
In my Bible, that passage is illustrated with a photo of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
At least the hypocrites in the Bible, Redmond, Wash., and Omaha, Neb., who incessantly brag about their charity actually do pony up the money.
Elected Democrats crow about how much they love the poor by demanding overburdened taxpayers fund government redistribution schemes, but can never seem to open their own wallets.
The only evidence we have that Democrats love the poor is that they consistently back policies that will create more of them.

Liberals and Conservatives have greatly different Worldviews
It's no surprise liberals and conservatives see our world in starkly different terms. They display contrasting views toward ideas, religion, liberty, responsibilities, generally disagreeing, even about possibilities of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.
These clashing opinions amount to more than a trivial split on topics; they connect, in fact, both logically and emotionally to their conflicts over worldview, culture, politics and America's role in history.
As an example, polls show Americans remain divided on extraterrestrials with a 2008 Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll reporting 56% believe it is "very likely" or "somewhat likely" intelligent life has developed in other worlds with self-described Democrats being far more likely to say they've personally seen "visitors from another world" or believe in them than are Republicans who remain distinctly skeptical.
The differences stem in part from religious convictions with conservatives far more likely to uphold traditional approaches to Biblical faith. Nothing in Scripture explicitly denies the possibility of life elsewhere but Biblical accounts of directed creation makes it far easier to accept the notion that this small, inhabited planet is alone in the universe.
Liberals profess wider acceptance of ideas life emerged through random forces and happy accidents; therefore, stars and potential planets into the billions suggest similar coincidences would produce life somewhere else. The differing views on extraterrestrial life stem from core arguments about the presence (or absence) of higher purpose, of supernatural direction in our existence on earth, God, Christ, the Holy Spirit.
Similarly, liberals and conservatives differ on the rise and the role of the United States. The right has a much stronger tendency to credit America as a "heaven rescued land" (in the words of The Star Spangled Banner). They see evidence of Divine favor in the emergence of the world's most powerful civilization in North America which, a mere 400 years ago, was the least developed portion of the planet.
For liberals the idea of God decreed prosperity and prominence for the United States smacks of swaggering jingoism, and imperialist arrogance. They are far more likely to see America's success as the result of mere good luck, or even rapacity and ruthlessness, rather than a consequence of Providential intervention.
A current emotional debate centers on the related notion of "American exceptionalism": does our country represent a uniquely blessed, beneficial development in human history, or a flawed nation with a maddening mix of admirable and appalling characteristics? A recent Gallup poll asked respondents whether other nations of the world should follow America's example: Republicans overwhelming said "yes" while Democrats split evenly on the proposition. Liberals in general think not.
Conservatives felt outrage when Obama declared he believes in American exceptionalism only in the same sense "the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism." As Sarah Palin sneers in her new book, America By Heart, "Which is to say, he doesn't believe in American exceptionalism at all. He seems to think it is just a kind of irrational prejudice in favor of our way of life."
It's easy to imagine the president maintains a more open attitude than the former Alaska governor. If you believe that the United States is utterly unique in human history, an unprecedented and potently purposeful experiment in liberty under a higher power's protection, it follows that earth itself enjoys a similarly singular status freakishly favored within a lonely universe. On the other hand, suspicion America is only the latest in a long succession of rising and falling world powers easily co-exists with assumptions our planet is amongst countless other centers of intelligent life in a teeming cosmos.
A liberal slant in politics or policy doesn't make automatic believers in extraterrestrial visitors any more than conservative worldviews compels insistence human beings will never discover other-worldly counterparts. Impassioned affirmation of American exceptionalism does naturally connect to comparable assumptions of earthly exceptionalism and helps define a most significant rarely noted division defining the current gulf between right and left, belief in a higher power, GOD and Christ.

Socialist Congressmen
Where the tragic events of September 11, 2001 failed to bring long-lasting unanimity to our country, where it failed to seal friendships with our long-believed allies, the war with Iraq succeeded, undisputedly, in exposing their masquerades of concern for either America or human rights abuses. We learned much about who are "with us," and the values for which America stands, and who are "with the terrorists," and the values for which they stand; these anti-Americans include:
Tom Daschle, Nancy Pelosi, Jim McDermott, Charles Rangel, John Kerry, Robert Byrd, Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers, David Bonier, Pete Stark, Jimmy Carter, Hans Blix, France, Germany, Russia, Jean Chretien, Vicente Fox, Turkey, Jordan, Ramsey Clark, Scott Ritter, Peter Arnett, Eason Jordan, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, CNN, BBC, CBS, ABC, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Tim Robbins, the Dixie Chicks, Susan Sarandon, Jeneane Garafalo, Martin Sheen, Michael Moore, Ed Asner, Sean Penn, Harry Belafonte, Mike Ferrell, Richard Gere, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Prof. Nicholas De Genova, A.N.S.W.E.R. and, of course, the irrelevant United Nations.
No doubt, many of you have read about the deplorable and shocking statement made by Professor Nicholas DeGenova, a professor at the Columbia University in New York, at a "teach-in" (or the "bash America rally"): "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military. I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus."
In an excellent article, "Moment of Truth", David Horowitz condemns those remarks. Besides revealing socialist tactics, Mr. Horowitz also states that the organizer of the Columbia "teach-in," Professor Eric Foner, had this to say about patriotism:
"I refuse to cede the definition of American patriotism to George W. Bush," Foner said, drawing a cheer from the audience. "I have a different definition of patriotism, which comes from Paul Robeson: 'The patriot is the person who is never satisfied with his country.'"
Says David Horowitz, "it's true that Paul Robeson was never satisfied with his country. He was an icon (and member) of the American Communist Party, who received a Stalin Peace Prize from the dictator himself."
This anti-American, socialist/communist, theme is not restricted to our college campuses and universities. Through my own research, I discovered that many Progressive Caucus ("PC," how appropriate) members may be affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, seek trade with Fidel Castro, support Hugo Chavez, and/or desire to strip the rights of (or silence) conservative organizations (i.e., the Boy Scouts of America). Their statements and activities make suspect the motivation of all PC member's concern for, or loyalty to, either the Constitution of the United States of America or the American people.
Additionally, amid the crises since 9/11, if so many elected officials have failed to do the honorable or right thing, all under the media spotlight, it certainly behooves us to watch what they do in secret. We must be alert to: House/Senate Bills proposed which itend to erode the authority and supremacy of the Constitution of the United States; House/Senate Bills which attempt to replace capitalism with equitable distribution (through taxation or other means); attacks against the Judeo-Christian values and principles upon which this country was founded and replacement with other belief systems (i.e., humanism and moral relativism); attacks against individuals or groups who do not conform to socialistic beliefs and goals; and corrupt or questionable use of taxpayer dollars, i.e., Congressional trips to Cuba.
My desire is to inform and warn. I hope that the information which follows might "light a fire" and cause us to pay more attention to our Representatives, independently research their activites, and share pertinent information with others, both on FR and in our communities. (I also believe that this thread may serve one place to add information/links.) It is my strong belief that as our depth of knowledge and awareness increase as to how socialism is being infiltrated into America, the better prepared we will be to stop it and, hopefully, reverse its progression. Honest debate, armed with knowledge, leads to greater understanding and can aid us in our fight against members of the United States House of Representatives who have categorically and undeniably misrepresented, to their constituents, and to all Americans, their oath:
I, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.*
Since the fifties, there have been numerous congress people who have taken this oath in vain. There have even been a couple presidents as well. A wide spread joke about Bill CLinton was, "How you can you tell when CLinton is lying? Answer: WHen his lips are moving." Now the joke going around about Obama is: "How can you tell when Obama is LYing? He is still breathing." Obamacare had many provisions removed before it passed including counseling for end of life but that provision reappeared brought back by bureaucrats despite law. BO praised it of course. 111th Congress Added More Debt Than First 100 Congresses Combined: $10,429 Per Person in U.S.
(CNSNews.com) - The federal government has accumulated more new debt -- $3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29) -- during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury. That equals $10,429.64 in new debt for each and every one of the 308,745,538 people counted in the United States by the 2010 Census.

I took some time to examine the stance taken by the Democratic Party on a variety of issues in comparison to the stance taken by the Socialist Party USA. I was looking for a confirmation to what most of us already believe - what I found sent chills down my spine. I've listed the issues separately below so as to avoid being monotonous to those who may only be interested in select issues. The direct link to each individual statement is also provided. Also note the Communist Party USA goals at the end of this article.

However, I will say that I am literally astounded at how the Democrats mirror the Socialist on every single issue that comes to mind. I was looking for a confirmation to what most of us already believe - what I found sent chills down my spine. Coldest Day Ever Recorded in Ireland
by Jack Cashill: On Tuesday this week, the high temperature in Ballyhaise, County Cavan, clocked in at 16 degrees Fahrenheit. As Head forecaster Gerald Fleming told the Irish Times, "That's the lowest daily maximum ever recorded in Ireland, which makes it the coldest day ever recorded in Ireland."
This new low did not shock the Irish. They have been getting used to sub-freezing temperatures. This is the coldest December on record in Ireland and throughout much of Northern Europe. It is likely the snowiest as well. The weather has thoroughly disrupted European travel and is starting to damage the economy.
Not all winters are like this. I saw no snow the year I lived in Ireland in the early 1990s, and in the early 1980s, during the winter I spent in France-Nancy to be precise-the temperature never dropped below freezing, even at night.
For old time's sake, I have been tracking the weather reports out of Europe. Yet in all that I have read in the mainstream European press, I have seen no attempt to reconcile the present cold with the promised heat, not even to chalk the flagrant disparity up to "climate change." It is as if the reader is not supposed to notice.
But many do. The blogs and editorial letters boil over with outrage. Writes one not atypical letter writer in the UK, "Snowfall, ice, Arctic-level cold and all the rest have caused major disruption to the UK infrastructure in the last few weeks, not least because our gilded civil servants have been looking in the wrong direction. And they still are. . . . The country is grinding to a halt NOW, and they are still prattling about global warming in the period 2030 to 2100? These people are truly off their trolleys. They are seriously mentally ill."
The Europeans are learning what we have always known, as Michael Savage might put it, "Liberalism is a mental disorder."

To return all the rights and profits, from the creation of money to the rightful heirs, the citizens and the U.S. Government. It is outrageous that private banks and the FED can create our money and collect interest on it. If we must pay interest on monies created and loaned, let it be the United States of America that receives it, not some private interest.
We have lost our freedom to the private banks that create money out of thin air and enslave the common man to a life of debt. If we are to be indebted let it be to our country and not the bankers.

What Is The Federal Reserve Bank?
What is the Federal Reserve Bank (FED) and why do we have it?
The FED is a central bank. Central banks are supposed to implement a country's fiscal policies. They monitor commercial banks to ensure that they maintain sufficient assets, like cash, so as to remain solvent and stable. Central banks also do business, such as currency exchanges and gold transactions, with other central banks. In theory, a central bank should be good for a country, and they might be if it wasn't for the fact that they are not owned or controlled by the government of the country they are serving. Private central banks, including our FED, operate not in the interest of the public good but for profit.
There have been three central banks in our nation's history. The first two, while deceptive and fraudulent, pale in comparison to the scope and size of the fraud being perpetrated by our current FED. What they all have in common is an insidious practice known as "fractional banking."
Fractional banking or fractional lending is the ability to create money from nothing, lend it to the government or someone else and charge interest to boot. The practice evolved before banks existed. Goldsmiths rented out space in their vaults to individuals and merchants for storage of their gold or silver. The goldsmiths gave these "depositors" a certificate that showed the amount of gold stored. These certificates were then used to conduct business.
In time the goldsmiths noticed that the gold in their vaults was rarely withdrawn. Small amounts would move in and out but the large majority never moved. Sensing a profit opportunity, the goldsmiths issued double receipts for the gold, in effect creating money (certificates) from nothing and then lending those certificates (creating debt) to depositors and charging them interest as well.
Since the certificates represented more gold than actually existed, the certificates were "fractionally" backed by gold. Eventually some of these vault operations were transformed into banks and the practice of fractional banking continued.
Keep that fractional banking concept in mind as we examine our first central bank, the First Bank of the United States (BUS). It was created, after bitter dissent in the Congress, in 1791 and chartered for 20 years. A scam not unlike the current FED, the BUS used its control of the currency to defraud the public and establish a legal form of usury.
This bank practiced fractional lending at a 10:1 rate, ten dollars of loans for each dollar they had on deposit. This misuse and abuse of their public charter continued for the entire 20 years of their existence. Public outrage over these abuses was such that the charter was not renewed and the bank ceased to exist in 1811.
The war of 1812 left the country in economic chaos, seen by bankers as another opportunity for easy profits. They influenced Congress to charter the second central bank, the Second Bank of the United States (SBUS), in 1816.
The SBUS was more expansive than the BUS. The SBUS sold franchises and literally doubled the number of banks in a short period of time. The country began to boom and move westward, which required money. Using fractional lending at the 10:1 rate, the central bank and their franchisees created the debt/money for the expansion.
Things boomed for a while, then the banks decided to shut off the debt/money, citing the need to control inflation. This action on the part of the SBUS caused bankruptcies and foreclosures. The banks then took control of the assets that were used as security against the loans.
Closely examine how the SBUS engineered this cycle of prosperity and depression. The central bank caused inflation by creating debt/money for loans and credit and making these funds readily available. The economy boomed. Then they used the inflation which they created as an excuse to shut off the loans/credit/money.
The resulting shortage of cash caused the economy to falter or slow dramatically and large numbers of business and personal bankruptcies resulted. The central bank then seized the assets used as security for the loans. The wealth created by the borrowers during the boom was then transferred to the central bank during the bust. And you always wondered how the big guys ended up with all the marbles.

Do you remember the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robinhood with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland? Well Olivia rode Trigger in that movie. Trigger was bred on a farm co-owned by Bing Crosby. Roy bought Trigger on a time payment plan for $2,500 and Trigger made 188 movies together. Trigger even out did Bob Hope by winning an Oscar in the movie Son of Paleface in 1953.
It is extremely sad to see this era lost forever.& Despite the fact that Gene and Roy's movies, as well as those of other great characters, can be bought or rented for viewing, today's kids would rather spend their time playing video games. Today it takes a very special pair of parents to raise their kids with the right values and morals. These were the great heroes of our childhood, and they did teach us right from wrong, and how to have and show respect for each other and the animals that share this earth.
You and I were born at the right time. We were able to grow up with these great people even if we never met them. In their own way they taught us patriotism and honor, we learned that lying and cheating were bad, and sex wasn't as important as love. We learned how to suffer through disappointment and failure and work through it. Our lives were drug free.
So it's good-bye to Roy and Dale, Gene and Hoppy, The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Farewell to Sky King and Superman and Sgt. Friday. Thanks to Capt. Kangaroo, Mr. Rogers and Capt. Noah and all those people whose lives touched ours, and made them better.

Roy's 1964 Bonneville sold for $254,500, it was estimated to sell between 100 and 150 thousand dollars.
His script book from the January 14,1953 episode of This Is Your Life sold for $10,000 (est. $800-$1,000)
A collection of signed baseballs (Pete Rose, Duke Snyder and other greats) sold for $3,750
A collection of signed bats (Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Bob Feller, and others) sold for $2,750.
Trigger's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500 (est. 100-150 K)
One of many of Roy's shirts sold for $16,250 and one of his many cowboy hats sold for $17,500.One set of boot spurs sold for $10,625. (He never used a set of spurs on Trigger.)
A life size shooting gallery sold for $27,500.
Various chandeliers sold from $6,875 to $20,000. Very unique and artistic in their western style.
A signed photograph by Don Larsen taken during his perfect game in the world series against the Dodgers on Oct. 8, 1953, along with a signed baseball to Roy from Don, sold for $2,500
Two fabulous limited edition BB guns in their original boxes with numerous photos of Roy, Dale, Gabby, and Pat sold for $3,750.
A collection of memorabilia from his shows entertaining the troops in Vietnam sold for $938. I never knew he was there. His flight jacket sold for $7,500.
His set of dinner ware plates and silverware sold for $11,875. The Bible they used at the dinner table every night sold for $8,750.

Do you remember the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robinhood with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland? Well Olivia rode Trigger in that movie. Trigger was bred on a farm co-owned by Bing Crosby. Roy bought Trigger on a time payment plan for $2,500 and Trigger made 188 movies together. FW: Alfred Evans is a Smart Man
Seems to me like it might be a good idea to send this to your elected representative. I just did.

Put me in charge ...
Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese, and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza ...... get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings .... get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime, and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360 .... get a job and your own place.
In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good."
Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago when taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

What If It's True?
Suppose what some call the "Christmas story" is true -- all of it, from the angels, to the shepherds, to the virgin birth, to God taking on human flesh. By this, I don't mean to suggest it is true only for those who believe it to be true, but what if it is objectively true, no matter what the deniers say? What difference would it make? Should it make any difference?
The narrative and the quotations written by the physician named Luke and by John, the closest disciple of Jesus of Nazareth, are unique and exclusive. The genealogical line of Jesus compiled by Matthew the tax collector is impressive and compelling. The words spoken by Jesus and recorded by these men are phenomenal. They expose the inner darkness of Man, offering a roadmap out, while also revealing the light of God, offering directions into His presence.
The information provided by witnesses to these events are either true, or not. The claims leave no room for middle ground, despite what some "theologians" claim. If they are not true, one must conclude "the greatest story ever told" was the result of the greatest conspiracy in history from which not a single "conspirator" later recanted. The One who spoke such heartwarming words, as C.S. Lewis has noted, was either a liar, a fool, or he told the truth. There are no other options.
The "conspiracy" would have to have stretched over thousands of years, from the time of the Prophets to the modern era when millions continue to claim their lives have been transformed by this carpenter with no formal training, no college degree and no influence with the reigning religious and secular authorities of His day.
Among other things skeptics have to contend with is why would so many people claim the story is true, including what would occur at the end of Jesus' life on Earth, when they had nothing to gain in this life by promoting a lie? In fact, they invited persecution from the religious authorities, along with imprisonment and death from the Roman rulers, who treated any perceived or actual challenge to Caesar as a capital offense.
Of course the story is fantastic. But who would want to follow a God that can be defined and understood by human logic? Such a God would not be worth knowing because He would be created in our image.
I suspect even those who don't believe the story secretly wish it were true. Who, or what else, offers the hope, cleansing and purpose for this life -- as well as eternal life -- like that presented by this child-man-God? In an age when love means lust and is too often conditional, this story offers a love that is personal, redemptive and unconditional. Christmas is the great story of God becoming human in order that humans might dwell with Him. It is about the helper helping those who cannot help themselves no matter how hard they try.
It is a gift better than anything the fictional Santa Claus could give. And it is a gift that keeps on giving into eternity, never losing its value, unlike stock portfolios.
Come on, what have you got to lose -- only everything -- by considering this greatest of all stories? Maybe you believed the story as a child, but with maturity came skepticism and later unbelief. Try reading it again as an adult. It truly is the ultimate gift and it has your (and my) name on it. It fits all who try it on and has the additional benefit of having been paid for by someone else. This gift never wears out. Once accepted, it so satisfies that people rarely return it. For what could it be exchanged?
Can anyone name a better gift that has produced more positive and welcome results around the world for more than 2,000 years?
